Motorbike & Scooter Rental in Patong, Phuket

Patong is Phuket's busiest beach and nightlife area — Bangla Road, Patong Beach, and constant traffic on Thawewong and Rat-U-Thit roads. Parking near the beach is scarce and often paid, and taxis and tuk-tuks charge tourist prices for short trips — a motorbike in Patong is the easiest way to get around the town, over the hill to Karon and Kata, or further around the island.

We don't have a walk-in office in Patong itself — our nearest branch is in Karon, a short ride over the hill road. We deliver bikes straight to your Patong hotel: send your address, bike model, rental period and a passport photo via WhatsApp, and we'll bring a clean, fueled bike to you. Paperwork takes 10 minutes: a passport copy and a cash deposit — your original documents stay with you.

Which bike to choose for Patong

Patong sits in a bowl between the sea and a steep ridge, and almost every trip out of town starts with a climb. That makes engine size a practical question rather than a matter of taste:

  • Honda Click 125 — enough for riding around Patong itself: the beach road, Rat-U-Thit, Jungceylon, Bangla Road area. The cheapest option and the easiest to park.
  • Honda Click 160 or PCX 160 — the sensible choice if you ride two-up or plan to cross Patong Hill to Karon and Kata regularly. The extra power matters on the climb, and the PCX has a bigger, more comfortable seat.
  • Honda ADV 160 or FORZA 350 — for long island days: Phuket Town, Promthep Cape, the northern beaches. Taller suspension and better wind protection on the highway.

Every bike comes with two helmets and medical insurance covering hospital treatment up to 50,000฿ in case of an accident. If you are not sure which model fits your plans, describe your route in WhatsApp and we'll suggest one.

Parking a bike in Patong

Parking is the main daily annoyance in Patong, and it is the reason a bike beats a car here. A motorbike fits where a car never will, but a few rules save you trouble:

  • Most hotels and condos in Patong have their own bike parking — ask at reception when you check in, it is usually free for guests.
  • Around Jungceylon and Bangla Road there are paid motorbike lots; the fee is small and much cheaper than a towed bike.
  • Do not leave the bike on the red-and-white kerb markings or on the pavement of the beach road — this is where traffic police work most often.
  • At night, park under lighting or inside the hotel yard. We wrote a separate guide on where to park a motorbike in Phuket, including free parking, and on how to avoid having a bike stolen.

Where to ride from Patong

Patong is a convenient base: the whole west coast is within an easy ride.

  • Over Patong Hill to Karon and Kata — the classic short trip, with a viewpoint over Patong Bay on the way up. Ride it in daylight first: the road is steep with tight bends.
  • North along the coast to Kamala and Bangtao — quieter beaches and our second office on Srisoonthorn Road.
  • South to Rawai, Nai Harn and Promthep Cape — a full day out; take a 160cc or larger.
  • Phuket Town — the old quarter, Thalang Road, coffee and street food.

Police checks, licence and helmets

Police checkpoints work regularly in the tourist areas of Phuket, Patong included, and they do check documents. A helmet is mandatory for both rider and passenger — that is why we hand over two with every bike. We do not require a driving licence to sign the rental contract, but riding without a licence valid for a motorbike is the rider's own responsibility. What exactly is checked, which licence counts and what the fines are is explained in detail in our article on renting a motorbike in Phuket without a licence.
