Motorbike rental in Cherng Talay and Laguna (Phuket)

Cherng Talay — spelled Choeng Thale on the road signs and sold as "Laguna" by most booking sites — is the subdistrict behind Bang Tao beach, running from Surin in the south to Layan in the north. It is the fastest-growing corner of Phuket: Boat Avenue and Porto de Phuket for shopping and dinner, the Laguna Phuket complex on the lagoons with its resorts and golf courses, six kilometres of Bang Tao sand, and a grid of new villa projects inland. The catch is the scale: the beach, Boat Avenue and the supermarkets are kilometres apart and there is no useful public transport between them, so a motorbike in Cherng Talay is what makes the area work.

This is the one district where you can simply walk into our office: the Bangtao branch sits at 126 Srisoonthorn Road, Choeng Thale — in Cherng Talay itself — open daily 08:00-18:00, WhatsApp +66 808 948 672. Most addresses in the area are 5-10 minutes away, so many customers ride in, choose a bike and ride out. We can also bring it to your hotel, villa or condo. Paperwork takes about 10 minutes: your passport (we make the copy, the original stays with you) - no driving licence is required to rent from us. The deposit is cash: 3 000฿ up to 160cc, 7 000฿ for the 350cc models.

Which bike to choose for Cherng Talay

There are no hills to speak of here — Srisoonthorn Road and the 4030 coast road are flat. What matters instead is daily distance: a supermarket run, the beach, dinner at Boat Avenue and an airport transfer can easily add up to 40 km in a day.

• Honda Click 125 — the standard choice for the area: flat roads, easy parking at Boat Avenue and Porto de Phuket, cheap by the month.
• Honda Click 160 ABS or Giorno 125 ABS — for riding two-up in Srisoonthorn Road traffic; ABS is worth having on wet asphalt from May to October.
• Honda PCX 160 ABS or ADV 160 — for airport runs (20-22 km), the hill road to Patong and long island days. Roomy under-seat storage for a shopping trip.
• Honda Forza 350 — if you commute daily to Phuket Town or Patong and want highway comfort.

Where to park a bike in Cherng Talay

• Boat Avenue — free parking with a dedicated motorbike area at the front. On Friday evenings the night market fills the car park completely; a bike still gets in when cars are circling.
• Porto de Phuket — free open-air parking next door, with bike spaces near the entrances and the Central Food Hall.
• Bang Tao and Layan beaches — use the small lots and the restaurant or beach-club parking at the beach access roads. At Layan bikes stand under the trees along the road; at Banana Beach there is only a narrow verge, so leave nothing under the seat.
• Inside Laguna Phuket — park in your resort's bike parking rather than at the gate, and keep the speed down: the internal roads have bumps, buggies and shuttle-boat crossings.
• Srisoonthorn Road — never leave the bike on the narrow shoulder, and remember that red-and-white kerb markings mean no stopping at all.

Where to ride from Cherng Talay

• North to Layan, Banana Beach and Nai Thon — 6 km to Layan, about 20 km to Nai Thon on quiet, well-surfaced road. Banana Beach is invisible from the road and reached by a steep path down.
• South to Surin, the Laem Singh viewpoint and Kamala — 4 km, 8 km and 10 km respectively; the only real climb in this direction is the Surin headland. See bike rental in Surin.
• Inland to old Thalang — the Heroines Monument, Wat Phra Thong, Bang Pae waterfall and the gibbon rehabilitation project: 10-20 km, 25-30 minutes.
• Across the island — the airport is 20-22 km and 25-30 minutes (see airport rental), Patong about 22 km and 35 minutes, and the old town of Phuket Town around 25 km and 40 minutes.

Police checks, licence and helmets

Checkpoints appear regularly on Srisoonthorn Road and at the junctions of the 4030 coast road, and documents really are checked. Renting from us needs no driving licence — a passport and the cash deposit are enough. Riding is a different question: Thai law requires a category A or A1 licence, Thai or international, and that is the document officers ask for. Without the right licence the fine is 1 000฿; without a helmet it can reach 2 000฿, and a helmet is mandatory for the passenger too, which is why two come with every bike. Bike delivery in Cherng Talay

Because our office is in Cherng Talay, delivery here is short: 5-15 minutes to most addresses between Surin, Bang Tao and Layan. On rentals of 5 days or more delivery to your hotel, villa or condo is free; on shorter rentals it is paid, the cost depends on the address and the manager confirms it before you book.
